ผม or ฉัน?
Thai changes the word for “I” by gender. Men say ผม (phǒm). Women usually say ฉัน (chǎn). The builder switches it for you.
ครับ and ค่ะ
These polite words end a sentence: ครับ (khráp) for men, ค่ะ (khâ) for women. Polite mode adds them to every line; casual mode keeps them for the greeting and the last line, like most Thai posts.
Meeting the family?
Greet parents with a wai: palms together, a small bow, and สวัสดีครับ / ค่ะ. Use the polite tone, and keep the closing line about taking good care of your partner.
Questions about introducing yourself in Thai
How do you introduce yourself in Thai?
Start with สวัสดีครับ (sà-wàt-dii khráp) if you are a man or สวัสดีค่ะ (sà-wàt-dii khâ) if you are a woman, then say your name: ผมชื่อ… (phǒm chûe…) for men, ฉันชื่อ… (chǎn chûe…) for women. Add where you are from with มาจาก… (maa jàak…) and finish with ยินดีที่ได้รู้จัก (yin-dii thîi dâi rúu-jàk), “nice to meet you”.
What is the difference between ครับ and ค่ะ?
Both are polite particles that end a sentence. Men use ครับ (khráp); women use ค่ะ (khâ) for statements and คะ (khá) for questions. Thai speakers use them constantly, so adding them makes any introduction sound polite.
What is Thai karaoke?
Thais call Thai written in English letters “karaoke”, after the romanised lyrics on karaoke screens. This tool shows karaoke with tone marks under every Thai sentence so you can read it aloud.
Is the Thai machine translated?
No. Every sentence comes from a fixed, hand-written Thai template and the dropdowns only insert words from checked lists, so the grammar, particles and spelling stay correct.
