Thai Numbers
Thailand uses everyday Arabic digits, but its own numerals (๐–๙) still appear on signs, menus, temples and official documents. Here is how to count, read the numerals, and say the big numbers — with a converter to turn any number into Thai.
Counting 0–20
The building blocks. Once you know 1–10, the teens are simply สิบ (“sip”, ten) plus the digit. Note that “one” becomes เอ็ด (“et”) when it follows a ten.
Tens to 100
Each ten is the digit plus สิบ — except 20, which uses the special form ยี่สิบ (“yii-sip”).
Large numbers
Thai has dedicated words for each power of ten up to a million (ล้าน). Bigger numbers stack them — a billion is literally “a thousand millions”, พันล้าน.
